Role Summary
The Director of operations is a mission-driven leader responsible for the day-to-day management of the Islamic Center of San Diego’s operations. The director works in conjunction with the Imams and the Board of Directors as well as the Board of Trustees and will be responsible for overseeing all aspect of ICSD and to ensure all activities are aligned with the ICSD's vision and values.

Strategic leadership
Strategic leadership
- Governance: Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors and the Board of Trusties and inform them on the ICSD’s performance, finances, and important issues.
- Vision and planning: Work with the Boards to develop and implement the ICSD's strategic and operational plans.
- Organizational development: Provide overall executive leadership to staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to carry out the strategic and operational plans.
- Management: Oversee all operational aspects, including staffing, finances, administration, Human resources, IT, and facilities management.
- Staff and volunteer oversight: Train, and manage staff and volunteers, including performance reviews and establishing job descriptions.
- Policies and procedures: Ensure that internal processes and infrastructure are efficient and aligned with the organization's vision. Draft and implement organizational policies.
- Legal compliance: Maintain all official records and ensure the mosque complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Fiscal oversight: Manage the annual budget, monitor cash flow, and ensure sound financial practices.
- Fundraising: Develop and lead fundraising internal and external campaigns, manage donor relationships, and oversee grant applications.
- Grant Management: Explores and manages grant opportunities to help fund programs and projects.
- Accounting: Oversee all bookkeeping, accounting, and financial audits.
- Engagement: Oversee the ICSD's communications, including its website, social media, and newsletters, to enhance its public profile.
- Program oversight: Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the ICSD's programs and services to ensure quality and relevance to the community.
- Program development: Ensure programs reflect the priorities of the Board and contribute to the overall mission.
- Interdepartmental coordination: Maintain cohesion between various ministries (e.g., Imams, youth, education, outreach) to ensure they work toward the same vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business administration, nonprofit management, Islamic studies).
- 5-10 years of experience in a community service or leadership role.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Islamic knowledge and the ability to apply it in all activities and dealings.
- Adaptability, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse groups.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Islamic Center Of San Diego and a passion for serving the community.
